Top Comics Wassermann Nr. 108 (1970)

Here's a comic that I picked up for a friend while in Cologne. It appears to be a 1970 German-language reprint 1968's Aquaman #40 by Steve Skeates & Jim Aparo, with a cover by Nick Cardy. The back-up is a reprint of "The Topsy-Turvy World!" by Ramona Fradon from 1954's Adventure Comics #196. The U.S. edition had no back-up, reprint or otherwise. Also, the paper stock is very slightly heavier and brighter than our version. At present, the copy is the spotlight image for the run at the Grand Comics Database. It's funny flipping through these foreign editions and seeing Marvel and DC coexist together in a Mego way. Besides the Fantastic Four on the inside cover, there's also a Spider-Man ad filling dead space above a Professor Eureka strip, followed by a fill page Tarzan ad. Speaking of whom, not the "Korak: Tarzan's Sohn" mention on the first page, filling the U.S. indicia space, and recall Arthur's late first son Koryak. The inside back cover offers Classics Illustrated, and there's also a Woody Woodpecker spot. Again, the German edition had space for these mentions of other books published by BSV - Williams because there are no actual paid advertisements targeting children. Man, that must be nice.
Anyway, there's more Aquaman and Detroit League foreign reprint action if you follow the links below... DC in Germany
