The upcoming waves of DCUC toys has my wallet groaning. I think Commander Steel is a definite purchase, along with Gentleman Ghost. I still will need to find a Hawkman as well...
I am boggled as to WHY Commander Steel, especially now? I mean, I'm one of the guy's biggest fans and even I don't think he deserves a mass-market toy. The only thing I can think of is that Mattel wanted a Captain America-type character, and Heywood fits the bill very strongly with his physique and colors. Of course, why they would want a Captain America-type toy, I don't know...
I'd have bought Despero if he'd been offered as a whole, though the design is so close to his Total Justice figure, why bother?
I'd be more puzzled by Commander Steel if I found any of the DC Classics figures to be mass-market friendly. Maybe they're testing the waters to see who the public responds to in toy form in pursuit of greater exploitation beyond the JLA?
