I have to confess that I wasn't familiar with Anthony Fowler, Jr. when I went to Louisiana in 2023. Basically, I'd been working on getting this jam done for half a decade, COVID vaccines had kicked in, and so we specifically drove to this convention to take care of unfinished business. I saw impressed with the work Fowler had on display at the show, felt a renewed sense of optimism about the project after a swell effort prior effort at the show, and just needed to keep making progress. Thankfully, Fowler continued the winning streak with a fantastic effort that stylistically was miles away from other contributors, but totally worked for the character and my sensibilities. This is the pensive leader of the Detroit League, but also timeless enough to be pulled out of a Nick Cardy or Ivan Reis comic. I also loved the gray wash effect on the chain mail shirt, and his crisp technique on the detailing overall. I'm also happy to report that Fowler has gotten harder to miss in the time since this contribution, with work in several DC Power and Milestone projects! Anthony Fowler Jr.
